Combat Basics
ARVEE combat takes place in interactive Discord battle screens. Use /fight for regular encounters and /boss for a solo boss battle. Choose a destination that suits your character's current progress.
Your actions
| Action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Attack | Deal a normal hit using your equipped combat stats. |
| Skills | Use unlocked abilities. Abilities can require mana or have cooldowns. |
| Items | Use supported supplies during combat, such as healing items. |
| Defend | Reduce danger on an incoming turn and respond to enemy intent. |
| Flee | Attempt to leave the encounter rather than finish it. |
Read enemy intent
The battle interface can show the enemy's upcoming action. Before committing a turn, consider whether a heavy attack, interruptible action, or status effect is coming. Defense and certain disruption effects can change the outcome of a dangerous turn.
Stats that matter
- HP: your health. Reaching zero can cause defeat.
- Mana: spent by abilities; check the requirement before selecting a skill.
- Attack and defense: influence damage dealt and received.
- Critical hits and effects: can change the actual damage from a hit.
- Equipment and bonuses: forging, rarity, enchantments, skills, titles, and Ascension may all affect your build.
Statuses may include damage over time or an action-limiting effect. Some ability sequences form a combo; check /skill combos for the patterns that are available.
Wins, losses, and rewards
Victory can award Gold, XP, loot, quest progress, and world milestones. Loot drops are chance-based unless a reward explicitly says otherwise. Defeat, fleeing, and timeout are separate outcomes; they do not necessarily grant the same rewards or affect the same records.
If combat gets stuck
Use /escape to leave a stuck or missing combat session. It is a recovery action, not a shortcut to guaranteed victory or rewards. Reopen /start afterwards to inspect your saved character state.
